Hello Floppycat readers, that is Scarlett. She is a 5-year-old bicolor, pink/flame level Ragdoll from Cajun Ragdolls in Louisiana. Cajun Ragdolls at the moment are situated in Houston, Texas, after two hurricanes destroyed their pretty residence in Westlake.

How Scarlett Bought Her Identify

Scarlett’s title was chosen primarily based on her colour and her Southern roots. She is registered to CFA and TICA. Anne Paul is her breeder. How she got here to be ours is a joke…my husband was unhappy to be the one one in the home with out his personal cat. He’s very keen on orange cats, and I insisted on a woman. I’m crew…. Ladies are simpler in multiple-cat households.

I first referred to as our native breeder Cooper Catz by Shari Cooper. She didn’t have a pink feminine. I didn’t know the way uncommon a bicolor pink/flame feminine ragdoll could be. I did a bit digging into the dames and sires of Shari’s cats. I noticed considered one of her cats was from Louisiana. I positioned a chilly name to Anne within the first week of December.

Scarlett was by no means marketed or actually on the market. We talked for hours about Scarlett. Anne requested many questions associated to my expertise with cats, residence setting, my native veterinarian, and different pets within the residence.

Scarlett was speculated to be considered one of her private present cats, however the surprising lack of her daughter made adoption the very best determination. We set a pickup date that week, and I booked a flight.

The morning of the flight, the Columbia to Charlotte leg was canceled. I frantically spoke with the airline and made the choice to drive to Charlotte an hour and a half away. I flew in my automotive to Charlotte to catch the Houston flight. As soon as in Houston, I met very briefly with Anne and picked Scarlett up within the drop off space of the airport. We had to return by TSA.

I needed to take away Scarlett from the service bag; she buried her head in my sweater and thru the scanner we went. Scarlett was a trouper. She should have been so scared; leaving her household/siblings, a loud airport, a airplane experience, and assembly a brand new household with established grownup cats all in in the future.

Scarlett As we speak

I can’t say sufficient good issues about Anne Paul. She really cares for the ragdoll breed. Her kittens are of the best high quality, wholesome, and social. She raises the kittens in her residence together with her granddaughter. Anne had all her data updated and her spay was already accomplished. My private vet mentioned she was the healthiest kitten she had ever seen from a breeder.

To make sure Scarlett would bond with my husband, I spent two weeks on the couch. I made him feed her, clear her litter field and play together with her.

Scarlett Sleeps with Me

As you may see 5 years later, all of them sleep with me. Scarlett has a rescue sister, Tinka (12-year-old grey), Tillman (male orange tabby age unknown… a latest walk-up addition) and Merlin (9-year-old male blue level Ragdoll).

Scarlett Loves Her Groceries

Scarlet is a wholesome 17-pound woman who, as Anne put it, “loves her groceries”. She has a really thick coat that requires each day brushing to maintain the mats out. She is the sweetest cat. She lets me clip her nails and shave round her backside.

Scarlett is a heavy sleeper and finds probably the most snug positions. I’d positively fly to Houston once more for an additional considered one of Anne’s infants. As I’m typing, Scarlett is sleeping in my mattress, dreaming about one thing incredible….she chirps and thrills in her sleep. And I simply love that about MY cat!

Merlin

That is Merlin’s final day at our residence earlier than his condo life started. Merlin got here from Cooper Cats and belongs to my 22-year-old daughter. He has an Instagram web page I started whereas his momma was away at school and dwelling with us. @Merlin_Ragdoll_Felon

His deal with “felon” happened trigger he was doing time within the “large home” whereas his gurl was gone to varsity. Merlin was the little bully in our completely satisfied residence. He ran a decent gang and wouldn’t let the ladies in what he deemed his a part of the home.

We FaceTime with Merlin no less than as soon as every week and go to him regularly. Ragdolls should not like different cat breeds. They really miss you and wait so that you can come residence. Since he moved out, Scaredy Scarlett has taken the alpha position and retains all of the cats sweetly so as! It has been so enjoyable to see her character blossom.
